During the course of this blog I will focus on three different definitions affiliated with innocence: "freedom from sin or moral wrong," "freedom from legal or specific wrong," "simplicity; absence of guile or cunning." These different ideas, though vaguely similar, have vastly different meanings and associations. From physical contexts and legal ramifications, to moral consequences and general decency, innocence means different things through various contexts; from religion, society, and inner thought.
What I would like you, the reader, to get out of this blog is a new idea of what innocence is, and how it can be changed and used in many different contexts, for many different purposes. As we can see from above, innocence can mean different things to different people, and by perusing what we believe to be innocence we can discover what other people believe, and how to best analyze these situations.
The statement of purpose could be improved by including a section on why you chose those definitions of innocence. You could also include how you chose to represent these differences.
ReplyDeleteHolistic impact: Your blog shows that you have an understanding of innocence. Your photos are varied and support the points of your argument well. The texts portray different forms well if they are a bit long and could be reduced to quoting a segment of the document. The background fits well with the image of an innocent child.
ReplyDeleteRequired Elements: The home page would not allow me to comment, but it had a catching opening. The required elements were all present.
The mechanics are sound, but terminology is occasionally off such as referring to a song as a poem. The works cited could be better organized by having the MLA citations listed in a sources cited at the bottom of the page. Often, the source was listed, but it was not cited in MLA form.
I think your statement of purpose is straightforward and to the point - the way it should be. You have more pages to make things more detailed to the viewers. I can clearly tell what you are trying to do with your blog. One thing I'd like to know is what you hope the reader will take away/get out of from reading your blog? What impression do you hope to leave on viewers?
ReplyDeleteMECHANICS: I agree with Daniel regarding the MLA format. For example, your pictures need to be MLA cited. Creating a whole new page as a works cited page may also be a good option for you (since parenthetical citations will be through out the entirety of your project). Having a separate works cited page takes away some of the "clutter" on some of your pages (ie: found texts page).
ReplyDeletePHYSICAL VISAGE: I absolutely love the picture at the baby at the top. She is so precious. The orange in the background adds a nice "glow" to your project as well as that baby at the top. So good job with that!
HOLISTIC IMPACT: You are correct that your project speaks for itself how much time and effort you put into the project. You clearly understand what innocence means, and have effectively taught others the depth and broadness of the word.
I agree with the previous comments in that you need to express more of the purpose of your entire blog and why you chose to set up and do the things you did.
ReplyDeleteOver all your holistic impact is pretty good in giving an interesting view on innocence and your over all look of the blog does a good job expressing innocence expecially with the picture of the baby symbolizing innocence itself.
Your mechanics i belive it would be better if you did either an entirely different workcited page or at the bottom of each page add a workcited part.
